bitmap and vector image example
VectorMagic is super cool! “This site converts bitmap images to vector art - it’s an online auto-tracer.” The sample image of a bitmap version of the Stanford logo to a vector version is amazing!

When we had the large (3′x10′, I believe) banner printed for Lavender Graduation a few years ago, the designer turned the entire thing into vectors. When we went to Kinkos to have it printed, the guy at the front desk thought we must have messed up - the entire file for the banner was something like 60 kilobytes! But indeed it was all there, words and images and colors and everything. And the banner came out beautifully.

The scale-ability of these images is amazing to me, and how much it can reduce the size of art and yet still contain more information than the original did.
