Aliens in Corvallis?

Apparently, I sleep very soundly. Last night at around 3:30am, a loud noise was heard by several Corvallis residents:

According to Wendy, the loud sounds lasted for several minutes. She said it sounded like an earthquake except things were not shaking. I was oblivious to this commotion.

What really happened???

The Winter Classes

I am taking 3 classes this term:

Ethics of Diversity
“Uses moral philosophy to examine difference-based discrimination and prejudice in the human community.”

Legal Issues in Higher Education
“A comprehensive presentation and discussion of the law governing administration within public colleges and universities with a special emphasis on tort liability and freedom of expression.”

Multicultural Competency in Student Affairs
“Seminar that focuses on the beginning development of one’s multicultural proficiency while addressing selected multicultural issues in student affairs administration (e.g. multicultural service models, campus climate issues, emerging research, professional dilemmas and challenges).”

I am teaching one class:
ALS 116 Academic Success
“Assessment and development of strategies for succeeding in university-level academics. Topics include time management, goal setting, critical thinking, note taking, and study skills.”

PS: I’m in the College Student Services Administration program at Oregon State University.

It’s 1:00 a.m. in Rhode Island

A quick update:
Wendy and I are in Rhode Island celebrating our month-long break from school!

Dan Crouch’s blog is off of the Google “evil blog” list. He was banned for a while from Google because tried to out-Google Google! :-) Dan writes about poker, cars, and Oregon State University.

Here are a few ways that you can find Dan’s blog:

The Oregon State University Admissions blog is up and running. I used WordPress as the blogging app. It is the best open source blogging solution that I have worked with. It was fairly easy to install on the OSU servers and I was able to incorporate our “proprietary” server side includes and multi-variant cascading style sheet system (that’s geek speak that actually makes no sense, but I’m sure Dan and Jim will understand it!).

Web stats are my best friend!

I would like to thank everyone who has been reading and commenting on my blog. It’s nice to know that people still like to read about vacuums and rabid bees.

I recently started keeping track of my web site statistics via StatCounter.com. The nice thing about web data is the fact that you can see where your readers are located. I think it’s awesome that people in Japan and the Philippines are reading my material. I also have some regular readers in Mexico and Canada.

I have had a total of 44 unique visitors to my blog. Who wants to be number 45?
