Growing Twitter

If you’re ever in need of a quick and easy way to visualize the growth of your followers on Twitter, look no further than the Wildfire Social Media Monitor. While your total number of followers on Twitter is really more of a vanity metric, the Wildfire tool is a great way to see if certain accounts have been artificially increasing their following.

According to the graph, on April 28th, 2010, I had 1,586 followers on Twitter. Whenever a client asks me to help them grow their followers on Twitter, I usually talk about providing quality content and engaging with their audience…over time, your follower count will grow on its own.

  1. I used to use TwitterCounter for stats, but I like how this one lets you add in multiple users (and it’s also just prettier).

However, it seems like it takes a long time to import data. How long did it take for your stats to show up?

    1. When I found the site, my stats were already in there. Presumably, someone had already tried to look them up which activated the crawl of my content. It shouldn’t take too long. In my opinion, this looks (and works) way better than TwitterCounter (or at least the NEW TwitterCounter).

      1. I set up a notification, so hopefully I’ll be able to play with it soon. I’m excited to see if it really works better than TwitterCounter. It seems like all the good Twitter tools have gotten worse with age, though that’s probably due mostly to Twitter’s new API restrictions.
