My StrengthsQuest results

StrengthsQuest by Gallup

I took the StrengthsQuest yesterday. I think that my results are spot on. What do you think?

StrengthsQuest gives students and educators the opportunity to develop strengths by building on their greatest talents — the way in which they most naturally think, feel, and behave as unique individuals.

Here are my StrengthsQuest results:

STRATEGIC
People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

IDEATION
People who are especially talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

MAXIMIZER
People who are especially talented in the Maximizer theme focus on strengths as a way to stimulate personal and group excellence. They seek to transform something strong into something superb.

INDIVIDUALIZATION
People who are especially talented in the Individualization theme are intrigued with the unique qualities of each person. They have a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively.

INTELLECTION
People who are especially talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

  1. *cough* after taking StrengthsQuest and looking around at other people’s results, I realized that it’s a bit like the Zodiac: general enough and positive/interesting enough that I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want those strengths, or see parts of them in themselves.

Someone else shared their results with me, and I thought, “Holy Hell! You aren’t anything like that!” Then I realized that those strengths were how he *actually* thought he operated in the world. His concept of self actually became pathological.

The problem is then, of course, that if these are general enough that most people can see themselves in most of them, how useful could they be if you were trying to figure out areas you needed to work on?

  2. Ah yes, StrengthsQuest. The results I got when I actually answered honestly:
      Activator
      Communicator
      Input
      Positivity
      Adaptability

My annoyance at these results (accurate though they may be) is catalogued here: http://www.personal.psu.edu/rvs2/blogs/renegade/2011/07/finding-your-strengths.html.
