Carmen Van Kerckhove from Racialicious has submitted a panel idea for the SXSW Interactive Festival:

Can Social Media End Racism?

No. I don’t feel that social media will “end racism”. Ending racism is going to take a lot of work/education/awareness/change and I believe that social media can certainly be part of the equation…

    What do you think?

I agree. In fact, I suspect Van Kerckhove is being intentionally over the top. I hope so, at any rate.

Also, I have no idea what ’social media’ is, unless it’s another term for blogs.

You have to give it to him. It’s a great title for a presentation. Creates good buzz, especially if he has something interesting to say about it.

I could be wrong, but I didn’t think Van Kerckhove identified as male. The post title is the same as the proposed panel title, so I don’t think it’s original to Eric.

Kyle - Carmen is a woman. “You have to give it to her. It’s a great title for a presentation. Creates good buzz, especially if she has something interesting to say about it.”

    Hey Eric–
Thanks for dropping by… I left a response to your question.

AS for social media, I don’t know the answer.
