Web statistics

My addiction to web site statistics continues unabated…although is has been quite a while since I posted about my site’s web analytics.

Site traffic has increased every month since I started keeping data on ericstoller.com web visits and pageviews.

Borrowing design ideas?

I was surfing the web today in search of good examples of university/college web designs for an upcoming proposal. I had a two-pronged plan. Step one, visit sites for schools that I was already familiar with as well as viewing sites from the colleges of OSU. Step two, visit edustyle for a sampling of […]

UND and NCAA’s racist collaboration

The NCAA and the University of North Dakota have come to an agreement regarding the racist Fighting Sioux logo. Instead of banning UND for division I athletics until they remove the racist logo, the NCAA has decided to collaborate with UND. In an unbelievably awful move, the NCAA has given (gotta love it when […]

University of Illinois + Racism

Chief Illiniwek was eliminated at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Richard Herman, the Chancellor of UIUC, apparently did not get the memo about the end of the Chief’s racist reign.
Dave Zirin of Sports Illustrated writes about the unbelievably awful resurrection of the chief.

You may have thought that the Chief was banned last […]

North Carolina Community Colleges

Kudos to North Carolina Community Colleges…
North Carolina’s community colleges must admit [undocumented] immigrants as long as they are 18 years old and high school graduates, a legal decision that reverses a 2004 rule that gave campuses the option to say no.
The change is good news for the children of foreign workers brought to […]

Real racism

One of the themes that I keep seeing as I peruse the rather lengthy list of racist incidents at college and university campuses is the idea of “real racism.” Comment after comment are posted on how nooses and blackface are not “real racism” and that dialogues about these events should not take place as […]

Oregon State University smoke-free?

A lot of comments were submitted after I wrote a post in September titled, “OSU to be tobacco free“.
A smoke-free OSU might soon be a reality…

Students with Oregon State University’s Health Advisory Board are hoping to make the campus a little cleaner.
They’re looking into making oregon state a smoke-free campus, and have launched […]

University of Michigan + Ableism

The University of Michigan’s Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor is apparently in violation of the American’s with Disabilities Act. A letter sent to the University of Michigan by the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR) (6MB PDF) informed the university that three complaints had been filed alleging that the stadium is […]

A potential deluge

My blogging has been a bit lax as of late. I’ve been very busy with “brickosphere” commitments. Who knew that an academic advising position could be so enjoyably exhausting . Plus, I’ve been going to the gym 3 times a week. I’m in a contest with my metabolism…I think I’m winning!
The blogosphere […]
