First of all, I love that your name is "FinanceBuzz" and that I made your Delicious bookmarks!

I equate views that strip the dignity of people of color as being racist. I've never said that conservatism = racism.

Also, I do not identify as either left or right. I believe in social justice activism and the elimination of oppression.

Eric, you are simply proving Adam's point with your comment. He simply commented on not taking a left-wing stance - in other words taking a right-leaning position. You apparently immediately implied that included saying "racist thing[s]." Simply taking a conservative stand on racial issues does not imply that one is racist. This is the big problem with trying to frankly discuss these issues. As you implicitly do here, if one does not agree with the left when race is on the table, one is a racist. Adam's point proven. So I simply ask you: do you equate conservatism with racism?

Hi Eric,
More inner monologues, please! It's so refreshing to read someone else's responses to 'missing the point' assertions by unaware hwg's. Also, there's a big difference between feeling 'guilty' about privilege - which is pointless AND creates space for privilege receivers to claim that they 'feel bad' about it, which (they then think) lets them off the hook - and the recognition/acknowledgment of privilege which leads to work for equality.
