Goode isn’t good

with 4 comments

Virgil Goode is a congressman from Virginia. He’s a one-man-oppression machine. He should be called Virgil “the oppressionator 3000″ Goode. In a recent letter to constituents, Virgil “the Oppressionator 3000″ targeted Minnesota’s newly elected Congressman, Keith Ellison. Ellison is the first Muslim to be elected to Congress.

According to Goode,

“The Muslim representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran. I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped.”

Ellison is African American and was born in Detroit, Michigan.

An anonymous racist who has access to Goode the Oppressionator 3000, stated that she thought that Virgil was “doing the right thing on this.”

Goode wishes that “more people would take a stand and stand up for the principles on which this country was founded.”

I wonder which principles Goode is talking about? Racism? Bigotry? Discrimination?

The primary theme surrounding Virgil Goode is that everyone who is on his oppression-list is a person of color. Latino’s, Muslim’s of Color, and “anchor babies” (apparently brown babies are also a threat to Goode “the Oppressionator 3000″.

Goode informed Fox news that he wants to limit legal immigration and put a stop to “diversity visas,” which he said let in people “not from European countries” and “some terrorist states.”

Note: I found several online newspapers that were covering this story. None of them had anything in their story titles about racism or islamophobia. Goode’s comments were labeled as “criticism.” Newspapers dilute racism by labeling it as something less oppressive. It helps to maintain the dominant paradigm and marginalizes those who are oppressed.

Update: Keith Ellison comments on Goode “the Oppressionator 3000′s” racist comments.

  1. Eric,

I saw this earlier today while I was at work and was aghast at the racism and cultural arrogance.

Thanks for calling him to task for this.

  2. I also appreciated how, according to Goode the Oppressionator 3000, illegal immigrants and “anchor babies” suddenly become drug traffickers. He jumps from talking about babies born as legal US citizens to stationing National Guard at the border. Obviously, “to fight the growing sophistication of the drug cartels, we must be prepared to respond in kind to this increasing menace.”

Those brown babies sure are a menace. I really think Virgil’s on the right track here for acheiving world peace.

  3. I know some folks that live in Virginia, and according to them Goode is actually pandering to his base with this sort of junk. I find that incredibly disheartening.
