Thanksgiving at Cannon Beach

November 27, 2006 @ 2:27 pm

Wendy and I had a marvelous trip to the Oregon coast during the holiday weekend. We stayed at the Inn at Cannon Beach. Our room at the inn had a fireplace and a jacuzzi.

I made special arrangements with the Wayfarer Restaurant to provide Wendy with a vegetarian entrée. The chef created a tasty dish with grilled portobellos, artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and zucchini. I had turkey with a spectacular cranberry sauce.

It was a bit windy at the coast. Wendy was almost blown away when I snapped this pic:

The Haystack Rock (in the background) at Cannon Beach is an amazing natural landmark. The sun appeared for at least 10 minutes!

We decided to take highway 99 back to Corvallis so that we could visit Stoller Vineyards. I thought they might give me a free bottle since we might be related…

When we arrived at the vineyard we saw a note taped to the front gate. It said that they were out of wine and would re-open in March of 2007.

I just wanted to say thank you for your tip. For weeks I had been trying to find somewhere to have a vegetarian Christmas dinner in Cannon Beach, but was having no luck. I then did a search on Google and your blog came up. So I too e-mailed the Wayfarer and they were very accomodating. When we arrived we were given one of the best tables in the restaurant (by your picture I think that it was the same table as you were given) and were served some very scrumptious food. Although your site was never intended to be a restaurant guide, you very much helped me choose the best place for Christmas dinner. Thank you.
